OUR STORY

Neighbors protecting
neighbors since 1912.

On October 3, 1912, a handful of Comfort citizens founded this department with no trucks, no station, and no budget — only a shared belief that neighbors look after neighbors.

Today, 26 volunteers respond from one station at 224 W Highway 473 with thirteen apparatus covering wildland, structure, vehicle, and water rescue across Kendall and Kerr County.

On July 4th, 2025, the Guadalupe River flooded catastrophically. CVFD's siren sounded. Comfort lost no one.

Your town needs you on the truck.

CVFD runs on the same families, the same neighbors, the same people you see at the grocery store. We're always recruiting.

  • 01Serve the community that raised you — or the one you chose. This is the most direct way to give back.
  • 02Full training provided at no cost. TCFP certified courses, wildland certification, and more.
  • 03Work alongside a tight crew of 26 people who've been answering calls together for years.
  • 04Flexible scheduling built for working people. We know you have a day job. So does everyone else on the department.

SUPPORT THE DEPARTMENT

Keep the trucks rolling.

CVFD receives partial county funding but the gap is filled by people like you. Every dollar goes to apparatus, gear, and training.

CVFD is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit · EIN 74-2098417 · All donations are tax-deductible.

26 volunteers. One station.
Zero tax dollars.

Every truck, every set of gear, every training course comes from this community. The county covers part of it. The rest is on you.

One of our apparatus was recently struck and damaged. Repairs don't come cheap and they don't come from a county budget. We've set a goal of $25,000 to help cover the cost and get that unit back in service. Help us get there.
